Limited first edition of Mega Civilization available from Pegasus Spiele Premium Shops

2015: After the release of Mega Civilization at SPIEL’15 in Essen, the
English strategy game is now available from Pegasus Spiele Premium
Stores. These partner stores offer a wide variety of
games from Pegasus Spiele and exclusive games like Mega Civilization.
Mega Civilization has already
made the headlines at SPIEL’15. It contains up to 12 hours of strategy
with 5 to 18 players, more than 2.000 tokens and 1.500 cards and one
game board which is 2 meters long – mega on the
outside, mega on the inside.
The wooden box weighs 10
kilograms, costs 199 Euros and contains not only a lot of gaming
materials but also a well elaborated and balanced board game. The
authors John Rodriguez and Flo de Haan spent over 15 years perfecting
the rules. Mega Civilization is not just a game about the history of
humanity. The game itself will make history. Based on the original game
from 1980 the authors developed a revised and newly illustrated version
for up to 18 players.
Each player leads his own
civilization as it tries expanding its culture over a map-board that
stretches from the British Isles to India while also including the
northern regions of Africa. Players reenact the historical
development of ancient civilizations from just after the last Ice Age
to the end of the Iron Age. Although battles and territorial strategy
are important, Mega Civilization is not a war game. Instead, the
objective of play is to gain a level of overall advancement
involving cultural, economic, scientific, political, civic and
religious factors. The player who balances these various goals most
effectively will achieve the best scores and win the game. The scenario
for beginner, which takes only 1-2 hours, and another
short scenario help players getting introduced to the game.
